Our Changing Landscape

July 20, 2022

It’s often said that building or renovating is one of the most stressful things a person can experience. Stories of projects taking double the time, and costing twice as much as expected, are prevalent on home-building TV shows, and a hot topic at dinner parties across the country. While we would question whether the issue is as widespread as it is high profile, there’s no doubt that taking on a project involving so many people, processes, plans, and permissions, is bound to have its fair share of drama. Read on to find out how the team at Powerhouse Architectural are ready to smooth the way for your major undertaking.

Constant Consents

When was the last time you went through the building or resource consent process? And how many good dinner party stories did you get out of it? With council regulations and oversight being necessarily strict and ever-changing, keeping on top of the paperwork, expert evidence, sign-offs, and other requirements, while still keeping the ball rolling, is not for the faint-hearted. Rather than attempt it yourself, when you engage with our Tauranga architectural designers from the beginning of your design process, you also gain all of our (daily!) experience in dealing with council and consents. Not only do we know what needs to be done and when, but we know who to talk with to solve any minor problems before they become major headaches.

Before You Break Ground

Whether your design is straightforward and easily approved, or bespoke and requiring special handling, having our Tauranga Architectural designers on board from the get-go means your project won’t get stuck in the starting gates. So much of residential building or renovation work happens before you even get the tradespeople on-site, so you want to get all of that off-site stuff done right the first time. Because we work closely with local builders and construction managers, consulting on a weekly basis, we know our architectural designs are actually able to be built, and meet the standards of various legislations, including the Building Act 2004 and the Tauranga City Plan.

Our Changing Landscape

As our natural and built environments evolve over time, we understand there will inevitably be different rules our new builds or renovations will need to comply with, perhaps in zoning, or placement, size, services, or materials. Powerhouse Architectural’s sustainable approach will always keep us in step with any updates and changes to regulations in the future, so you’ll never be caught out. Contact our team today to see how we can guide your vision through to consented (and then built!) with ease.
